Programs and Events

Business Training Seminars – Held primarily in conjunction with Edgecombe Community College’s Small Business Education Center, the seminars provide an educational opportunity for business owners on a vast array of relevant business related topics (ie customer service, hiring practices and recordkeeping).

Annual Meeting - The Annual Meeting, held in January,  serves as an opportunity to applaud the past year, introduce the Chamber’s new leadership, and pay tribute to Chamber's outgoing leadership.  The highlight of the evening are the presentations of the prestigious Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award which honors an individual for their service to Edgecombe County and the Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award which recognizes an individual who goes beyond duty to the Chamber.

Tar River Business & Community Expo - Edgecombe County businesses can showcase their goods and services to hundreds of curious consumers.  The EXPO provides an opportunity for members to inform and inspire new customers. The event is held in November, and features retail, service, and non-profit vendors.

TECC Time Reverse Raffle and Silent Auction - This fun summer fundraiser for the Chamber is open to the public to participate. Only 275 tickets are sold for a chance to win $3000. The event also features a “Taste of Tarboro” where area restaurants showcase their specialties. The silent auction features everything from weekend getaways to furniture to spa services.

Business After Hours – This networking event gives businesses the opportunity to meet the business community, potential customers and new members.  Hosted by member businesses on a first-come, first serve basis.  Guests enjoy hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages.

Farm City Breakfast - This breakfast is held in November or December and involves the local business community and the local agricultural community.  The Cooperative Extension Service takes the lead in this event.

Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon – Held in conjunction with the Small Business Center, this April event honors the business administration professionals in the area.

Tarboro Downtown Christmas Parade -- Kick off the holiday season with the annual Tarboro Downtown Christmas Parade. The parade is usually held on the second Sunday in December and features over 125 units from high school marching bands to homemade floats to boy scout troops.

Community Updates - Our Chamber serves as a strong advocate for local business.  These programs are a valuable educational way of keeping you informed on local, county, regional and state issues that can affect your profitability.
